The historical Grand Hotel is located on the north hill of Taipei overlooking the entire city. It's 10 minutes walk from the MRT Jiantan Station, which will take you to most of the tourist sites in
Taipei. You can either take a taxi (1200 NTD) or a bus (100 NTD) from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to the Hotel.

Designed after the Forbidden City in Peking, this edifice is an architectural gem. Located in over 80 hectares of picturesque landscape, the Grand Hotel is a major landmark commanding a panoramic view of Taipei. Exquisite objects d'art, paintings, hand-made furniture and chandeliers adorn the public areas, and the rooms combine authentic Chinese decor with all modern comforts; enjoy impeccable and efficient service. The Grand Hotel, with its unique historical past, has been known as the "Imperial Kitchen", with master chefs famous for preparing traditional Chinese cuisine and western delicacies. Enjoy an array of diverse dining experience and sample tantalizing dishes from different parts of China, including Szechwan, Yangtze, Canton, and northern China.

All the guests accommodated in the Grand Hotel are also entitled to access all the facilities of Yuan Shan Club, which include outdoor Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis court, bowling alley, billiards, ping-pong, gymnasium, sauna, and kid’s playground. Please call ext.8813 or 8755 for information.

Not to be missed is the incredible collection of ancient and modern artifacts collected in the National Palace Museum over 5000 years of Chinese civilization, located east of the Grand Hotel and on the north side of Taipei. It’s better to spend your time freely in the museum instead of following a tour group. Therefore, it’s highly recommended to take a taxi from the hotel to the museum (about 100 NTD) and stay there as long as you like. The recently renovated interior with modern sight and sound exhibition is a real treat.

Within 10 minutes walk from the Hotel is the Shilin Night Market, one of the country’s historical market. To get there by the MRT, you must take the Danshui Line to the Jiantan Station, not the Shilin Station. Hundreds of stands with a variety of foods are available under your fingertip. Make sure not to eat too much at one stand so as to make room for the rest.

The guests can also access most of the locations in metropolitan Taipei via Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) and buses. The MRT Jiantan Station is in walking distance from the hotel. For your convenience, a NDNC-2008 MRT CARD with 40 NT$ deposit is provided by the conference to each registered participant. Further deposition to take additional MRT and Bus ride can be easily done at every MRT station. Please be advised that NO EATING, DRINKING OR SMOKING is allowed once you cross the line inside the MRT station. Otherwise, you will get fined in no time.
